8 Books to Fall in Love With This Season

 
 

Fall weather calls for a PSL, a cozy blanket, and a good read. Here are 8 great books that will inspire you to read this season! 

1. Whisper Network // Chandler Baker

A group of work friends who have worked together at the same company for years, experience the sudden death of the CEO. Up for the position of CEO, is their long-standing boss, who has been rumored to have a bad reputation and inappropriate relationships with the women in the office. His behavior and his treatment for the women in the company has been constantly ignored by the higher ups for way too long. The girls decide enough is enough and take matters in their own hands.

Untamed is a whirl wind of emotions, that are within every woman who seek so dearly to fit the mold of who we believe we are supposed to be. A famous London artist whose life seems perfect from the outside looking in, does the unimaginable and leaves everyone shook. One night her husband who is a famous in-demand photographer returns home one late evening from a fashion shoot, to be shot five times in the face. Refusing to speak about the shooting, the tragic murder leaves the public lost and in their imagination about the actual events that took place that night. The artist is kept away at a forensic unit, where she remains silent, while her artwork begins to skyrocket in price due to the infamous murder. A criminal psychotherapist becomes determined to speak with the artist and will lead to the unravelling of the murder mystery, while taking the readers into his ill motivated search for the truth. 

4. Such a Fun Age // Kiley Reid 

Alix Chamberlain is a successful business woman who’s image gets put in the spotlight when her babysitter, Emira, gets stopped at a local high-end supermarket by the security guard on duty. The security guard is quick to make kidnapping accusations when he sees a black young woman with a white toddler. This brings a scene about in the supermarket and several guests film the entire confrontation. Alix vows to make it all right by Emira, but the babysitter is hesitant to believe her and her desire to help. Once the video makes its way through social media, someone is brought back from the Alix’s past, and brings Emira and Alix together in a journey to getting to know one another, while also finding themselves. 


5. The Jetsetters: A Novel // Amanda Eyre Ward

Charlotte Perkins, a seventy-year-old single mom, submits an essay for a contest to win a cruise in hopes to reunite with her three adult children. She yearns for the days when her children admired and needed her. Charlotte wins the contest and the four of them set off on a 10-day romantic cruise through Athens, Rome, and Barcelona. The cruise forces the Perkins family to confront old secrets, discuss life choices, and ultimately brings together the family again for an adventurous vacation. 


6. Friends and Strangers // J. Courtney Sullivan

Elisabeth, a successful writer, is struggling with being a new mother in a small town, after living in New York City for twenty years. She is alone in a new house with her newborn baby, dealing with emotions that she has never felt before, and feeling unmotivated to start her new book. Elisabeth can’t seem to figure out how to make new friends, and becomes obsessed with a Brooklyn Facebook Mom’s page, her sister’s social media lifestyle, and text messages with her best friend who she left behind in New York. Soon she finds herself hiring a nanny named Sam, who she grows close to and becomes actively involved in both her romantic and educational life. But soon their friendship would be tested when Sam is introduced to Elisabeth’s in-laws.

When Margot Lee cannot get ahold of her mom, she decides to take a spur of the moment trip home to Koreatown, LA. Her mom, Mina Lee had travel to America thirty years earlier for a new life, leaving everything behind in her birth country of Seoul. The surprise trip home and what she finds there, makes Margot Lee realize that she does not know her mom as well as she thought she did. Margot Lee and Mina Lee have struggled all their lives to understand each other, but the visit home will bring up secrets that would either push them apart or bind them together.
