Finding Mom Friends

A few weeks ago, I was interviewed for a Podcast and the host asked if I could share any advice to fellow moms on how and where to find mom friends. I laughed, and told her finding mom friends is often harder than dating. I am married, but to think about the old dating days makes me cringe! Anyway, that is how I feel about finding mom friends.

It’s not easy.

It can be uncomfortable.

And it’s not like you can just put up an ad on Instagram so the “mom friend” of your dreams can find you and vice versa.

I struggled with this when I first had my son, especially since I live away from family and most of my friends who have children live across the country from me.

While I appreciated how supportive my husband was and the many FaceTime calls I had with family and friends, it was not enough. I genuinely needed to meet other moms who were going through a similar situation, who were also on maternity leave and struggling with breastfeeding, who were exhausted and waking up every 2-3 hours, who were dreading the day they had to drop their child off at daycare and go back to work…

I needed mom friends to tell me, “It’s going to be ok. You will get though this.”

So I set off to build the community I knew mothers needed, the community I needed. And now, 2.5 years later, I can definitely say it was one of the best decisions I have ever made.

Working Momkind has evolved into more than I ever imagined. The community I have been able to build is strong, supportive, resilient, and our members are not just from the United States, they come from all around the world.

And they all share one thing in common…motherhood.

We might not all parent the same, and that is perfectly fine. This community is not about connecting with moms who parent just like you, but rather connecting with moms you can learn from and be inspired by. Moms with different backgrounds and experience, from all walks of life.

While the community has grown extremely fast and so much has been accomplished through in person events and social media, it needed a more private space for members to continue the conversations and engage better. This is why I decided to launch Working Momkind’s private community this Summer, and I am thrilled to share that in less than a month we have welcomed over 1,000 members. And the best part of this community? It’s FREE. Why? Because you shouldn’t have to pay for friends.

I have a ton of great things planned for the community and I can’t wait to share more as we grow.

If you’re looking for mom friends or support, and if you’re interested in growing your circle and want to be part of this amazing community, I invite you to join us.

United in motherhood,
